Day Six, Feb 28, 2020

We finished up the many projects we started earlier in the week, working into the evening to try and get as much done...

  • The ladies helped with a 3 day VBS kids program for neighborhood kids, kids are in the middle of their summer break and it was great for us to serve alongside the school teachers.
  • We completed the plumbing, doors, and walls of a two story guest house that will serve the student ministry and visiting staff.
  • We completed the walls and flooring of a two story storage room, which will give the ministry more space and added storage capacity.
  • A few of the ladies designed and painted new decorations for the church and the school.
  • We help paint new and existing areas of the church.
  • We installed flooring both in rooms in the church and school.

Overall, we have had an amazing time getting to know Jordi and Ria and their team, they are amazing people, serving a neighborhood in need, for the KING!

We ended our day with a BBQ at the Bosch house, filled with lots of great food, laughter, and prayer.

Did I mention, food?  Peru has some amazing dishes and we have been provided with some amazing meals.  Throughout the week we have had our breakfast and dinners at the Bosch house.  A neighbor of the church cooked and served our lunches, which have been amazing!

Saturday is our final day in Peru.  Our plan is to tour Lima, enjoy some markets, and head to the airport for our 1am flight to the states on Sunday.

Day Five, Feb 27, 2020

Our second to last day serving with Jordi and Ria Bosch was more construction work and VBS style ministry with the local neighborhood kids.

The area we are in rests on a landfill that has been developed by poor families, many of which live in one room homes with no plumbing. The ministry the Bosch’s lead is the only evangelical presence in this community.

The rooms we are adding will allow for further ministry opportunities.

We are moving ahead with building the extra space, which involves installing flooring, walls, a second story, and a new bathroom.

Day Four, Feb 26, 2020...

This is a picture from the ladies night on Feb 25, our group led the neighborhood ladies through a devotional and painting exercise.

The work continues on a number of projects.

The ladies helped run a three day children program for neighborhood kids. It is the summer south of the equator and it is somewhat like our VBS programming in the states.

A few of our team members have been struggling with stomach issues so please pray for quick recovery.

Day Three, Feb 25, 2020

Our second day of construction work featured slightly cooler temps, which was a welcomed change.

Our team helped put up 8, 2 story beams that will be the structural pieces for a second story storage room.  We also worked on the walls for a guest house and painted throughout.

The ladies met tonight for a Women’s Night for the neighborhood, we led a devotional and painting exercises.

Day Two...Feb 24, 2020

Our first day of construction work was today, and multiple projects are underway...we moved multiple walls and dug 8 holes 2 feet deep through concrete and rock to prepare for tomorrow’s steel and foundation work. We also painted and installed new flooring in the school.

The team is very tired and sore...we are ready for a good rest.

This was the first day that we joined the staff for their morning devotional, it is great to meet and get to know their team.

Tomorrow brings steel and concrete work.  The ladies of the group will also lead a devotional and painting women’s event in the evening.
